Mousse vs. Schlauch und was ist die beste Wahl fürs Rennen.

Wenn es um Offroad-Rennen geht, zählt vor allem eines: pannenfrei ins Ziel kommen. Genau hier hat ein Reifen Mousse einen klaren Vorteil gegenüber einem herkömmlichen SchlauchStell dir vor, dein Schlauch platzt mitten im Rennen – du müsstest anhalten und ihn wechseln, was wertvolle Zeit kostet. Mit einem Reifen Mousse kann dir das nicht passieren, denn es ist pannensicher und sorgt für eine konstante Performance bis zur Ziellinie. Mousse macht in jedem Fall Sinn auch im Enduro-Sport da man garantiert plattfußfrei überall durchkommt.

Schlauch – Qualität ist entscheidend

Ein Schlauch kann ebenfalls eine gute Option sein, solange er von hoher Qualität ist. Hochwertige Schläuchehaben eine längere Lebensdauer und sind widerstandsfähiger gegen Durchstiche oder Druckverluste. Dennoch bleibt das Risiko einer Panne bestehen – besonders bei anspruchsvollen Rennen oder Offroad-Strecken.

Mit welchem Reifendruck in einem Schlauch ist das Mousse vergleichbar?

Das GibsonTyre Soft Mousse ist die weichste Variante und simuliert einen Druck von ca. 0,6 bar. Das mittelharte Mousse simuliert im Vergleich mit einem herkömmlichen Schlauch einen Reifendruck von ca. 0,8 –0,9 bar, das Gibson Hard Mousse ist die harte Variante und entspricht einem Druck von ca. 1,2 bar. Das sind natürlich lediglich Richtwerte, die sich je nach Reifenwahl, der Dichte des Mousse und der Betriebstemperatur unterscheiden können. Letztendlich stehen diese Werte natürlich auch in Abhängigkeit zur Umgebungstemperatur und dem Gewicht des Fahrers.

Weshalb ist der Einsatz von GibsonTyre Mousse ratsamer als der Einsatz eines Schlauchs? Der Einsatz von Mousse im Reifen garantiert eine absolut pannensichere Fahrt. - Bei der Montage nehmen die Einschnürungen zusätzliches Volumen an Mousse-Gel auf. Dies führt zu einer besseren Verteilung des Gels und somit zu einer effizienteren Ableitung der entstehenden Wärme.

Optimierte Fahreigenschaften

- Durch die Struktur der Einschnürungen verändert sich die Dichte der Mousse. Dadurch vergrößert sich die Reifenaufstandsfläche, was für bessere Haftung, maximalen Grip und extreme Lenkpräzision sorgt.

Gibt es einen Unterschied zur Schlauch/Reifen Kombination beim Fahrgefühl?

Das Mousse federt langsamerer aus als ein luftgefüllter Schlauch. Das ist bedingt durch die Trägheit des Materials. Einige Fahrer berichten anfangs von einem eher instabilen Fahrgefühl. Dieses Empfinden tritt in der Regel nur bei der Eingewöhnungsphase nach dem direkten Wechsel von Schlauch auf Mousse auf. Ist man den ersten Tag auf Mousse unterwegs, stellt sich dieses Gefühl jedoch mit der Zeit ab.

Was ein Mousse überhaupt nicht verträgt, sind Höchstgeschwindigkeiten, das Hinterrad kann stark pendeln, die Temperatur des Mousse steigt extrem an und kann bis hin zur Zerstörung des Mousse wirken. Also – auf hohe Geschwindigkeiten auf jeden Fall verzichten!

Wie aufwendig ist die Montage eines Mousse im Vergleich zu einem Schlauch?

Die Montage eines Mousse ist in jedem Fall unterschiedlich zu der Montage eines herkömmlichen Schlauchs. Während man bei der Schlauchmontage die Möglichkeit hat, den Vordruck des Schlauchs sogar nahe null zu fahren, ist es nur eingeschränkt möglich das vorhandene Volumen des Mousse zu reduzieren. Eingeschränkt bedeutet in diesem Fall, dass ich das Mousse minimal mit Druck über meine Knie komprimieren kann, wenn es einmal im Reifen eingesetzt und der Reifen schon über das eine Felgenhorn gezogen wurde. Die jedem Gibson Mousse beiliegende Montageanleitung veranschaulicht die Montage. Sollten aber Unsicherheiten bestehen, ist es ratsam sich für eine Erstmontage beim Fachhandel Unterstützung zu erfragen.

Fazit

Für maximale Sicherheit und Performance bei Rennen ist Mousse die bessere Wahl. Es eliminiert das Risiko von Plattfüßen und sorgt für gleichbleibende Fahreigenschaften. Wer dennoch auf einen Schlauch setzt, sollte auf hohe Qualität achten, um die Langlebigkeit zu garantieren.
