GIBSONTYRE JUNIOR – setting the standard for the next generation in MX sports
With our specially developed GibsonTyre Junior Motocross tyres, we stand for quality, safety and performance from the very beginning, because we believe that passion starts early. That’s why we develop high-quality motocross tyres especially for children and suitable for 85ccm, 65ccm and 50ccm MX bikes, so that even the youngest riders can take their first laps with confidence and joy.
Our goal is not only to offer you the right product but also to provide help and advice. We explain which tyres fit your MX bike and which models are best suited for different terrains. In addition, our Racing Service Team is regularly present at race tracks to advise you personally — directly at your bike, right on-site. Our Junior tyres are currently used by the junior team of the SevenSevenSix MX School — with great success Jesco Loberenz became German Champion in the 65ccm class. MX kids and junior tyres – everything you need to know
Motocross fascinates not only adults – children and teenagers are discovering this action-packed sport earlier and earlier. But anyone who thinks that a kids’ motorcycle is just a smaller version of an adult bike is mistaken. Especially when it comes to tyres, there are major differences and important aspects to consider.
Why special motocross tyres for young riders are important
Children’s and youth motocross bikes are lighter, smaller, and ridden differently than their larger counterparts. This also means that the tyres must be precisely matched to these characteristics. A tyre that is too hard or poorly profiled can quickly take away the fun or even become dangerous.
Our children’s tyres offer:
- Optimized rubber compounds for lightweight bikes.
- High grip even with low ground pressure.
- Reinforced sidewalls for increased safety.
GibsonTyre – one of the few manufacturers focused on kids’ tyres
GibsonTyre is one of the very few manufacturers in the motocross tyre industry to have developed its own junior tyre line. Models such as:
1.1 FRONT
70/100 -14 BIG
70/100 -19 BIG
4.1 REAR
90/100 -12 BIG
90 100 -16 BIG
Scoopster 5.2 sand tyre
90/100-12
90/100-16
were developed specifically for the needs of young riders and offer premium performance in all areas and riding situations.
Tyre dimensions – what the numbers mean
Parents or beginners often wonder what the numbers mean. Simply put, a typical example of a motocross tyre marking looks like this:
Example: MX 2.1 REAR 110/90-19 51M
Explanation of the numbers and letters: model designation of the manufacturer
- 110 – tyre width
- 90 – aspect ratio (% of width)
- 19 – rim diameter in inches (here: 19 inches)
- M – speed index (M = max. speed of 130 km/h)
Additional markings:
- TT (Tube Type): tyre requires an inner tube.
- TL (Tubeless): can be used without an inner tube.
- DOT: manufacturing date of the tyre!
- F or R: indicates front (F) or rear (R) tyre.
Motocross tyres are a crucial factor for performance and safety off-road. The choice of the right tyre depends heavily on the terrain and riding style. Regular inspection and timely replacement are essential to ensure optimal handling and safety.
